Tver city

Tver State University is situated in Tver, one of the oldest Russian cities founded in the 12th century.

Tver is located in the very heart of Russia, nestled in the upper region of the Volga river. Tver occupies a prime position on the route between Moscow and St. Petersburg. It is the nearest regional town from Moscow, approximately 160 km from the capital, and it takes only 1 hour and 40 minutes by local train to get to Moscow from Tver. St. Petersburg is in 485 km from Tver, so it takes 2 hours and 45 minutes to get there by high-speed train “Sapsan”. Citizens of Tver joke that they have two great suburbs - Moscow and St. Petersburg.

The city’s unique location let students enjoy the relaxed pace and friendly environment of the provinces, while also providing easy access to Russia’s two capital cities

Tver has a population of over 420,000. A variety of museums, art galleries, theaters, concert halls and libraries provide numerous opportunities for educational and recreational activities.
